Location

Die-Tech is located in Florence, Alabama, in the northwest corner of the state.  It is 20 miles south of the Tennessee border and 20 miles east of the Mississippi Border.  The quad-city area of Florence, Muscle Shoals, Sheffield and Tuscumbia are referred to collectively as "The Shoals" because they are all located along the banks of the Tennessee River.

History

The history of Florence and the Shoals began over 1000 years ago when Native Americans inhabited the area.  The town of Florence was developed in 1818 by the Cypress Land Company as a thriving river town.  It was named by an Italian surveyor who laid out the town, for his favorite city in Italy - Florence.

  of Courage", Helen Keller.  The home in which she
  was born is open to the public for tours year round. 

  The "Father of the Blues", William Christopher
  Handy was  born in Florence and the city hosts an
  annual W. C. Handy Music Festival.

  Florence is the home of the Wilson Dam, the largest
  single lock dam in the southeast, and the Wheeler Dam.
  Constructed by the Tennessee Valley Authority, these
  dams form Wilson Lake, making the area a mecca for
  anglers, boaters and water sports enthusiasts.

  The Renaissance Tower, the state's tallest tourist
  attraction offers scenic views of the Shoals area
  and features a restaurant.  The city hosts the annual
  Renaissance Faire and Feast.

  Florence is also the site of the University of North Alabama.
